The Westmere Fire Department is a non-profit, membership corporation formed under the laws of the State of New York.  It consists of over 80 volunteers.  The department provides service to the Westmere Fire District.  While the district owns the buildings, trucks and equipment, it is the department that provides the manpower.
The business of the department is handled by the business officers and the board of directors.  Firematic operations are conducted under the direction of the line officers.  Please see our personnel page for a list of these positions.  All officers and directors are elected by the members.
The members of the department include over 60 active firefighters plus over 20 associate and retired members.  In order to promote member fellowship, the department provides several social functions for its members.  These include monthly "social nights," an annual picnic and an annual installation dinner.
A Fund Drive is held each year, in the fall, in order to provide funds for the operation of the fire department.  The generosity of our residents has permitted us to continue serving the community since 1935.  Donations to the Westmere Fire Department are tax deductible as charitable contributions to the extent allowed by law (please consult your tax adviser).
